Wenger appointed FIFA´s chief of global football development

Arsene Wenger has been confirmed as FIFA s chief of global football development.

Wenger, 70, spent 22 years in charge of Arsenal until 2018 and had been linked with the vacant managerial position at Bayern Munich in recent weeks, but instead he will take up a new role with the global governing body.

During his time with the Gunners, Wenger was widely considered one of the world s greatest managers and won three Premier League titles, along with seven FA Cups.

The Frenchman built a strong reputation for his forward-thinking style of play and for developing young players, and in his new position Wenger will be tasked with driving growth for men and women across the globe.

FIFA says Wenger will also be considered a leading authority on technical matters…

Man United likeliest destination for Sancho

Sky Sports report that they ve been told Manchester United is the likeliest destination for Borussia Dortmund s Jadon Sancho this summer.

The 20-time English champions were very keen to sign the 21-year-old winger last year, but their effort came too late for the Bundesliga side to give proper consideration and reportedly fell rather short of Dortmund s valuation of €120 million.

United s interest, however, remained firm throughout the 2020-21 season, and though other clubs have been mentioned as potential suitors too, they apparently lead the race for Sancho s signature.

As for Dortmund, they are now believed to be willing to lower the price quoted a year ago and accept an offer of around €90 million. What s more, they have already started sounding out pote…

Dikgacoi signs for Cardiff

Cardiff City have completed the signing of Kagisho Dikgacoi from Crystal Palace.

The South Africa international moves to south Wales as a free agent, and will officially become a Cardiff player when his contract at Selhurst Park expires on June 30.

Dikgacoi made 114 appearances for Palace after joining from Fulham in 2011, and the midfielder says Ole Gunnar Solksjaer played a major role in his decision to finalise the switch.

The manager was persistent in wanting to bring me here, which always means a lot to a player, he told the club s official Twitter account.

Growing up I was a big fan of the way he played and I can t wait to get started with my new team-mates in training.

I m really looking forward to my first game in front of the Cardiff City fans.

Andreas Beck on Inter radar

Italian newspaper that Inter Milan are considering a summer bid for Hoffenheim defender Andreas Beck.

The Nerazzurri are on the lookout for a right-sided defender, but their attempts to sign Bacary Sagna and Martin Montoya have been in vain.

It is for that reason that they have turned their attention to Hoffenheim stalwart Andreas Beck.

Sporting director Piero Ausilio watched the player in action at the weekend as Hoffenheim faced Mainz, while also making a check on club s other target Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Andreas Beck has been a loyal servant to the club for almost six years now, having made 175 Bundesliga appearances for the Rhein-Neckar Arena outfit, scoring 3 goals.

The 27-year-old also has nine Germany caps to his name but last ap…

Cavani welcomes Juventus links

Edinson Cavani revealed he is happy at reports Juventus are keeping a close eye on his situation at Paris Saint-Germain, but made it clear he could still stay with the Ligue 1 champions.

The 29-year-old has often played second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic since joining PSG in 2013 and has regularly been linked with a move away, with Juventus believed to be leading the race for his signature.

Cavani acknowledged he is going through a difficult time in his career and will sit down with his current club s hierarchy at the end of the season to discuss his future.

It is nice to know that there is interest from Serie A, he told reporters.  I enjoyed some fantastic seasons there. Could I find back my best form at Juventus? We ll see…

Bonucci: Juventus now certainties in Champions League final

Leonardo Bonucci believes Juventus are now a certainty, not a surprise in the Champions League final after booking their spot in the Cardiff showpiece.

Mario Mandzukic and Dani Alves were on target as Juventus defeated Monaco 2-1 in Tuesday s semi-final second leg in Turin for a 4-1 aggregate triumph.

Mandzukic and Alves scored in the first half to help the five-time reigning Serie A champions reach the competition s final at Principality Stadium on June 3.

Italy international Bonucci said a more mature Juventus – an immovable force in Serie A as they seek European glory – have shown they belong on the big stage, having lost to Barcelona in the 2014-15 Champions League decider.

It s a great result and what a big club have to do, challenge for three t…

Prediction: Arsenal vs Crystal Palace

Best Odds: 7/10

Bookmaker:

Marking their return from the international break on Monday night, Arsenal will welcome Crystal Palace to the Emirates for a London derby.

Arsenal

Starting with the hosts, while Arsenal were last seen heading into the international break with a flat display away at Brighton, the Gunners did find themselves enjoying a September boost. Despite enduring what was a dreadful start to the 2021/22 campaign, the north London outfit have managed to bounce back from that 5-0 drumming at the hands of Manchester City at the end of August. Despite having to settle for that flattering 0-0 stalemate on the south coast last time out, Mikel Arteta s side are in the midst of a five-match unbeaten run across all formats. With that run highlighted by a s…

BItesize Prediction: Fiorentina vs Inter Milan – 22/10/22

Market: Inter Milan win

Odds: 11/10 @

Looking to extend on their recent boost this weekend, Inter Milan will make the trip to the Stadio Artemio Franchi when they meet Fiorentina on Saturday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Fiorentina might have enjoyed a real European romp this season, the Purples have rather drastically struggled to match a similar level while on domestic duties. Despite smelling a real chance away at Lecce earlier in the week, Vincenzo Italiano s men had to settle for a sluggish 1-1 draw against the relegation scrappers. Battling it out in the bottom-half of the Serie A standings, the Viola have recorded just a single victory from any of their previous eight top-flight outings. With that worrying domestic run stemming all the way back to…
